Last year, he brought a lot of leadership to our team that we needed." Besides mentioning that Daley is solid defensively as well as a good switch-hitter, Littlewood talked about some expectations he has for his player for the upcoming year. "We' ve talked to him about working hard in the weight room to get stronger so he's prepared for another 56 games in the spring," he said. "Going into the fall he's our second baseman and it's his position to lose. He'll probably hit two or six in the lineup and be a real key guy for us. We're looking for what we got last year, but maybe a little bit better because he will be a year older." Daley shared his thoughts on his first year experience in St. George. "It was really good,1' he said. "I loved it down here.... The weather was awesome, and you can't beat that. We did a lot of traveling and even went to Hawaii. We played a lot of ranked teams and we beat a few of them. We got a lot better." The Rebels were frustrated not being able to take part in a conference this past season, but are thrilled to join the PAC West Conference in 2008. "It was a little rough not being able to play in a Where Are They Now? Chad Vest Former SF standout Jordan Daley continues to electrify crowds with his golden glove and lightning quick release. Daley played his first two seasons as the shortstop for College of Southern Idaho. He played in the South Western Athletic Conference which is a wooden bat league. At the conclusion of the '06 season, Daley was awarded the Conference Defensive Player of the Year for his contributions on the field. After his junior college experience, Daley accepted a scholarship and became a Dixie Rebel. Under the direction of head coach Mike Littlewood, the Rebels have earned national respect, with several trips to the JUCO World Series including a 2004 NJCAA National Championship. However, as of recent, the Rebels athletics have taken on an arduous task by jumping to the Division II level. At the end of season one, DSU enjoyed a record just a shade over .500. Not too shabby. Coach Littlewood explained how Daley has made an impact to his program during this challenging transformation. He said, "I really like Jordan. Number one, I like conference and to not compete in a tournament at the end," said Daley. 'This upcoming year we'll have a division to play in, so that will be a lot nicer." Daley finished his junior season with some excellent statistics. He belted three homers, six doubles and totaled 28 RBI. His batting average for the season was .308, and he was only fanned a teambest 11 times. That stat alone demonstrates a great eye with vigilant discipline. He also turned 14 double plays, while only committing three errors as the starting second baseman. Hisfieldingpercentage for the year was a spectacular .979. So what is Jordan doing to prepare himself for next spring? "I've just started a workout program with some of the guys on my team, which has helped me out a ton," he said. "I'm trying hard to get my strength up and I've been working out this summer harder than ever. That will help me out the most. We're also going to the cages to hit, and we've thrown a lot." Summer means many things to many people — vacations, relaxing and gearing up for football season. But for Daley, it's all about getting prepared to ignite the crowd with a jaw-dropping « Courtesy photo double-play. Dixie baseball may be over for the year, but FAMILIAR TERRITORY: After graduating from SFHS, Jordan Daley went to play ball at Southern for Jordan — it's daily.
