Show Tennis Play-Off Set For August Salt Lake City will be the scene for the 1037 championship playoffs play-offs in the National Public Parks Tennis Tournament next month. Champions of public park tournaments tour-naments throughout the nation will compete in this playoff for top pubparks honors beginning Aug 10th and running through Aug. 25. This year's national tournament, directed by Harry James, 22-56 Berkeley St., Sugar House, is sponsored by the Salt Lake County Recreation D'pt.. and the Inter-mounta'n Inter-mounta'n Tennis Assn. Jarr.es said a new catagory has been added to the regular classification. classi-fication. It will be the singles and doubles for veteran men. All men who will be 45 years of age this year are eligible to compete in this classification. Tournament headquarters will be on the University of Utah where on the University of Utah campus. Tournament action will be at the Liberty Park courts. Housing will be available this year in Ballif Hall and elsewhere on the University of Utah campus. Rooms will be available for as low as $1.00 per day on the campus, with rooms in Ballif Hall costing S2.20 per day. In addition to the action on the courts, entertainment is arranged for the national visitors. Included In-cluded will be an outing, free movies, tour of Salt Lake City and a visit at the famed LDS Temple Grounds, stock car racing, banquet and a baseball game. |
