Dolly Madison was honored in an after- noon entertainment given by the Woman's Democratic club at the hona of Mrs. A. H. Kimball, 51) Gordon avenue. The afternoon after-noon w;l spent informally at cards, followed fol-lowed by tea. The rooms were decorated in garden I flowers, Including roses, lilacs and vnllow lilies. The lilies formed a centerpie'es for the tea table. The committee on arrangements included in-cluded Mrs. O. J. El king, Mrs. R. E. L,. Goodro, Mrs. J. Griffin, Mrs. John F. Loughborough entertained the ladies auxiliary to the Greecers of Utah yesterday afternoon at her home, 6S5 Bryan avenue. A bowl of purple iris and bridal wreath was the- centerpiece for the luncheon table. Co-vers were laid for the club members and for two additional guests, Mra. i. H. Griggs and Mrs. C. J. Geary of McGill, Ncv. The club members were Mrs. J. S. Early, Mrs. W. P. Bresslngham, Mrs. B. B. Ramey, Mrs. C. L. Casidv, Mrs. Henry Johnson, Mrs. W. E. Coulam and Mrs. Loughborough. Members of the Wednesday Social club and a few other guests were entertained yesterday afternoon by Mrs. John Gruher at her home, 967 West Second South street. Luncheon was followed bv a Kensington. Ken-sington. A cluny cover was over pink on the luncheon table Pink honeysuckl? in a j basket was the centerpiece for the table. Lilacs and Iris in purple, white and yellow were used about the rooms. Mr. Shires has just returned from France, where he was on the western battlefront. Rankin, formerly Miss Mary Gilmer, will leave the latter part of the week for Los Angeles to join her husband, hus-band, who has recently been mustered out of service. Mrs. R. W. Mrs. Edmund I earns has arrived from the Kearns ranch at Elko, Nev., and is the guest of her parents, Mr. and A5rs. C. H. Jenkinson. Members of the working forces of the : Utah-Idaho Sugar company, with their escorts, will be entertained at a dance , at the Country club tomorrow evening. The company has formed a society which plans entertainments from time to time. , This is one of the first of the season, and, with a jazz band and refreshments, , a good tlmo is anticipated. "A Musical 3ay in the Orient' will be i the special attrac tion offered by the music section of the Ladies' Literary club, as the first of its open days on Saturday, from 3 to 6 p. m. This program will consist con-sist of a variety of dances and music illustrating the oriental modes, some of it being performed by natives in costume. Following the program tea will be served in true Japanese fashion. This program is open to the public, a small admission bclrig received at the door. |
