Show JOHN W. HQGAN IS DEADIN FRANCE Former Employe of Oregon Short Line Succumbs to Influenza. Word has been received In Salt ak of the death of Sergeant John W. Hogan of Spanish Influenza In a base hospital in France. Sergeant Hogan was II years old and waa formerly for-merly employed by the Oregon Short Line railroad. He Is survived In Salt Lake by his widow, residing at the Hollywood apartments, and a son, John Kelly Hogan. Tribute Is paid to Sergeant Hogan. who was a member of an engineering detachment, in letters from his lieutenant lieu-tenant and Corporsl John N. Plxley, written to the widow. Corporal Plxley Plx-ley states: , "While not In the ssme company. 1 wss In the same regiment with Ser-gesnt Ser-gesnt Hogsn snd we came to France together. Shortly after our arrival we were assigned to duty at the same station and worked together up until the time of his death. "Hergeant Hogan proved himself a gentleman and waa counted aa a true friend by everyone mho knew htm. and hia loaa was a severe blow to all of us. Ills work was always above reproach and had he lived I fH sure that he would have been rewarded for hia effort ef-fort In this great conflict, tor which he made the supreme aacrifice.
