Show Crushing and smpiJnq Wouks The weekly report uf Hie cru-biu aud sampling Wors.s of ales' -rs. S. Howlauu & Co. for the p.is. week is a.-lollows a.-lollows : Salt Lake Cur, May 27, 1871. Editors Herald : Business during the week at the crushing and sainpiiug works has been quite dull, for reasons given last week, the shipments east and west are so high, parties owning ore had rather wait for freights to come down or sell it to smelters here. We think the high price of freight will ultimately result favorably to the Territory, from, the fact' that capitalists will come here to build refining and smelting works. Instead of shipping out the ore we would only send off the bullion. We have received from the Montana Mon-tana mine in Tintic, since our last report, re-port, 747 sacks of ore, weighing 38,134 lbs. Several small lots have been sent in for sampling, but not of an amount sufficient for enumerating. Nothing has been shipped during this week. Yours truly, S. W. Howland & Co. per L. B. T. |
