Show Funeral of Hattie Chambers. The last tributes to the memory - of Miss Hattie Chambers, who received fatal injuries in a coasting accident about two weeks ago, were rendered by her numerous relatives and friends yesterday afternoon. It had been arranged to hold the funeral services at the family residence, resi-dence, and at 1 o'clock, the time set, a large attendance of mourners crowded every available space. A quartette, composed com-posed of Messrs. Spencer , and Whitnev. Miss Wells and Mrs. Edith Knowlton, sang two beautiful and appropriate selections, se-lections, and feeling addresses were made by Feramorz Little, H. W. Lawrence and Professor Benner. Each speaker expressed ex-pressed the deep heartfelt sympathy which the event had caused, and many a . tear.and bitter sob attested the truth of the - remarks. " Professor ; Benner alluded touchingly to incidents in the life of his former pupil in j speaking of her noble character and lovable disposition, especially when upon her dying bed she asked her mother's forgiveness for any trouble she misht have caused or any wrong she might have done. i , : . The students of Hammond Hall paid their" deceased schoolmate a beautiful Jtribute in a pillow of white hyacinths,- in -the centre of ' which were her initials. - The numerous, floral gifts testified to the general esteem in which Miss Hattie was held, and must be, in a measure, a consoling thought to the grief-stricken parents. Most of the "Mikado" company, of which deceased was a member, were present, and thirty-five thirty-five carriages followed the remains to the City Cemetery, |
