Show CUB SQUADS DRILL FOR PANTHER BATTLES Coaches See First Champ Aggregations Although both East and West gridders meet this week in the first league games of the '42 season, sea-son, Cub gridders will not see league action until next Thursday, when the "B" and "C" teams meet the West High Panthers. The teams have had three weeks of strenuous drill and practice games. East High's "A" team m two pre-season encounters, dropped a 13-0 game to Granite High while downing Logan High 14-0. West's senior squad coached by Paddy Davis, former popular coach at South, has also played two games." Using strictly power -plays, the Panthers edged Murray , 14-0. In their other practice tilt v the Panthers battled Box Elder to a draw which is very commendable considering that the Bees were runners up to the state champions last year. Most observers rate West as fa vorites with East a close second. South's chances are figured wholly on "A" and "B" team performances. perform-ances. While the Leopards and Panthers are dividing an even number num-ber of hard-earned victories, the Cubs could very easily win enough games to capture their first football foot-ball title. This is far more than hopeful wishing. This year's midget squad is on a par with previous "C" team standards, and should win the majority ma-jority of their games. The junior squad is "raring to go" and this spirit bodes ill to any opposing team expecting an easy win. The "A" team under Coach Ryan has potential ability, and have promised prom-ised to win a couple for "Pat."
