Show Daughters of Pioneers Hold Opening Social Thursday The Daughters of the Pioneers commenced another season's Work Thursday afternoon in the form of a social honoring the pioneers or this community. The entertainment was held in the Alpine Stake Tabernacle basement and consisted of an interesting inter-esting program, followed by a delicious delic-ious lunch. There were 77 present including 5 of the original pioneer men, R. E. Booth, W. S. Robinson, W. B. Smith, Martin Hansen and E. B. Hawkins. Each of them was given three minutes on the program! to relate re-late pioneer experiences. The other members consisted of a vocal duet by Miss Mary Pulley and Mrs. Or'a Chipman, a reading by Louise Firmage, a vocal solo by Mrs. Edith G. Young, a dance "Farmerette's "Farmeret-te's Hornpipe", eight girls under the direction of Lorena Clayson, a reading read-ing by Ruth Halstrom, a vocal duet by Mrs. LaDocia Wagstaff and Mrs. Nellie Wagstaff and a reading by Junior Mitchell. ; Mrs. Thomas Coddington, president presi-dent of the organization, talked at the conclusion of the program- encouraging en-couraging the members to attend regularly reg-ularly the meetings this winter. She stated that a good history and splendid splen-did program would be given each time, and felt that everyone would be repaid for their attendane'e. Meetings will be conducted on the first Thursday of each month, and will be held in the City Hall commencing com-mencing at 2 p. m. n . |
