Show Wednesday evening the prospective students for the American Fork Seminary Semi-nary this year in the First and Fourth wards mot in their respective chapels with their bishoprics, -where a short meeting and social were enjoyed. The Seminary work for the year was explained ex-plained and discussed, after which Principal E. Ray Gardner treated the students with watermelons. The Second and Third ward students were entertained by Principal Gardner at a melon bust Friday evening in their meeting houses, following a discussion discus-sion of Seminary work. James Street returned home Tuesday Tues-day from Hooper, where he spent the previous month visiting friends and Edna Meredith and Mrs. Helen Heiselt were guests at an attractive luncheon given In Pleasant Grove Thursday at the home of Mrs. Rulon Dixon. ! ; i i ' ' '' Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Mercer, Mrs. J. J. Mercer, Sr., and Mrs. Peter Logs-don Logs-don returned home Thursday, . after enjoying a two weeks vacation in California with friends and relatives. They report a wonderful trip. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Ashton and children, Carl and Faye, camped last week at Fish Lake, where they spent an enjoyable vacation. A number of local people have had their tonsils removed during the week. On Monday, Raymond Chad-wick, Chad-wick, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Chad-wick, Chad-wick, and Ver, Ella and Beth Cox, children of Mrs- Ella Cox, underwent the operation. Tuesday the following follow-ing had theirs removed: Mrs. L. B. American Fork Locals Mrs. Merrill Hand and daughter, Gwen, of Draper, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Zabriskie during the Labor Day holidays. Mr. and Mrs, Owen Dean are the happy parents of a fine baby boy born Tuesday. Mother and baby are doing very nicely. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Werner of this city in company with Mrs. W. D. Smith and son, Roy, of Tleasant Grove, Mrs. W. D. Davis and Mrs. R. 1). Davis of Provo, spent several days this week at tho White Rock reservation reser-vation near Roosevelt visiting their brother, J. L Kitchen, who is employed employ-ed there. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Saxton and daughter, Katherine, and Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Overstreet returned to their ranch at Stockton, after visiting the week with Mrs. Saxton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Julian. "Tabby and Hun" accompanied by Adamson, Laura Crystal, daughter of Mrs. James S. Crystal, Pearl Jorgen-sen Jorgen-sen and June Holmstead, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holmstead. Fern Robinson, daughter of Bishop and Mrs. Lot Robinson, and Irma, Max, Meryle and Phil Huggard underwent the operation Wednesday. All are reported to be getting along nicely. Mrs. Mary Humphries furaished musical entertainment Wednesday evening at the Elks Frolic in Vivian Park, Provo canyon. The songsters have also been engaged to supply a number of comic song numbers at the l)ig Peach Day celebration in Brig-ham Brig-ham City next Friday and Saturday, |
