Show Services Held For Beloved Mother Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Smith were held in the Third ward chapel Sunday afternoon at 2:30 with Counselor W. W. Lira in charge. Mrs. Mary Neves was at the organ. The Relief Society chorus, under Mrs. Neves sang "Abide With Me", and Wilford Neves offered the invocation. Abraham Abra-ham Anderson of Lehi, sang "Oh My Father," accompanied by his daughter. daugh-ter. Speakers were Jarrres H. Walker who had been her neighbor for 34 years, and who spoke of her strug- I gle through life, she having been left motherless at 12. He read the poem "Crossing the Bar." Albert ; Anderson and President M. S. j Christiansen told of her leadership j in the family, she having always j acted as the pivot to the others and , her strong characteristics from her soldier father. In conclusion they pointed out that the things for j which we work and struggle are the 1 things worthwhile. Closing remarks and the appreciation appre-ciation of the family were voiced by W. W. Lim. Interspersed between the speakers were two string trios, "Oh Dry Those Tears" and "The Lord Is My Shepherd", played by Mildred Anderson, Maxine Taylor and George Rheimschiissel, accompanied accom-panied by Elaine Smith. The closing clos-ing number, a solo, "Going Home", was rendered by Reva W. Fugal. The benediction was by Joseph S. Walker. The grave in the City cemetery was dedicated by Bishop Frank D. Atwood, a son-in-law of the deceased. de-ceased. The 'house was well filled and the floral offerings many and beautiful both bespeaking the love and respect re-spect of the people for this family. o |
