Show THREE CASES OF SMALLPOX disease brought to the city by a cook on a car from thursdays standard thero are three cases of smallpox in the city and this morning sanitary inspector power quarantined ruth perry aged 18 and joseph battle aged 3 years both residing at twenty fourth street and william johndon an oregon short line cook who alvea in the rear of the same premises all three having the disease it la that the disease was brought to the city by johnson who is employed by the short line and who came in the other day in car and that the girl and the child contracted the disease from him the first that the sanitary inspector learned of the disease was last night and he at once investigated and found the two first mentioned to be ill as stated johnson who was also reported to have the disease was about town all evening spending most of his time in a wall avenue saloon when mr power went there looking tor him he had gone and was not located until this morning he was quarantined at his home the railroad company were at once notified of johnsons condition and the officials had the car in which he came into the city and which haa not been used since fumigated none of the cases is virulent and it is not believed by the health authorities ties that the disease will spread |
