The season opens July 8 with “Two by Two” and “Dames at Sea” playing in repertory through August 5. UMT will conclude the 2006 season with the premiere of “Songs for a New World,” August 18-26. UMT Artistic and Managing Director Bruce Cohen states, “’Two by Two’ is a musical that employs gentle and reverent humor that will connect with Utah audiences in its retelling of the Noah and the Ark story. Critically hailed as the best of Richard Rodgers’ postHammerstein work, the show is the result of the iconic collabor ation of Rodgers, Martin Charnin (‘Annie’) and Peter Stone (‘1776’). “It’s a classic Rodgers’ musical without the epic scope; a rare chance to enjoy a grand, golden-age score in an intimate package.” Cohen said. Robert Anthony Jones, who delighted UMT audiences as Dimas in 2004’s “Triumph of Love,” portrays Noah in this production. UMT veteran Linda Kearns returns to Ogden to direct “Two by Two.” Complementing the traditional feel of “Two b T will stage “Dames at Sea,” which Cohen characterizes as “tap-happy, fluffy musical theater,” originally written as a satire of MGM movie musicals of the 1940s. In the repertory, Jones is joined by familiar UMT favorites Teresa Bramwell, and Vanessa and Paul Cheney. The company’s final show, “Songs for a New World,” will present an interesting departure from usual UMT musi| fare “This show incorporates rock, pop, End” 7 y Two” and “Dames at Sea” will run Tuesday through Saturday from July 11-29, and August 4-5 in the Val A Browning Center for the Performing Arts Allred Theater on the Weber State University Ogden campus. “Songs for a New World” will run August 18, 19, 246 at Peery’s Egyptian Theater (2415 Washington Blvd., Ogden).
