Show DEPUTYLOSES Someone Purloins Dick Woot-ton's Woot-ton's Overcoat Near Salt Lake Police Station In the shadow of tho Salt Lake police station and within a fow feet from a score of uniformed policemen and detectives, a thief yesterday stole a valuable overcoat belonging to Deputy Sheriff R. H. Wootton of Ogden, Og-den, from an automobile which was parked at the doors of the station. Wootton in reporting tho loss to the local detectives department stated that he had driven up to police headquarters head-quarters in the Weber county sheriff's car and had parked the machine in front of tho main entrnnco to the build' ing while he transacted some police business. On returning to tho car a fow moments mo-ments after leaving it ho discovered his loss and immediately reported if. A search of the vicinity immediately immediate-ly after receiving Wootton's ' report failed to reveal any trace of the thief. It . is the opinion of tho detectives assigned to the search that tho theft was committed to a "dope fiond," a largo numberof whom may constantly bo found loitering about the streets in the vicinity of police headquarters. These "hop heads," according to the police, will commit any crime in order to secure money with which to pur-hase pur-hase drugs. |
