Show OO AUTOMOBILE WASTE HEAT UTILIZATION (From Consul Albert Ilalstcad, Birmingham, Bir-mingham, England.) In a recent trade journal appeared the following description of a noval device for utilizing tho heat from the engine of an automobilo to give warmth to the occupants of the car: A holo is cut through the sloping floor board, the slab of wood removed, forming a hinged trap door, the aperture aper-ture being filled In with close wire netting net-ting or gauze. Underneath the floor board two baffle -plates are lixed, the object of which -is to preveriV-tho 'oil thrown off by. the flywheel from passing pass-ing through the hole in the footboard, and also to-prevent the air from the engine carrying a mist of oil with IL It Is apparent that to pass through the hole in the floor the air first impinges upon the upper baffle, where any oil will gather and drip onto the lower baffle plate. The lattor should be drilled at Its lowest point to allow tho oil to run buck Into the engine tray. The hinged flap permits of the heat being shut off when not required. nn |
