Show IPROVO PEOPLE REMAINED AT HOME. Provo has rebelled After being easy marks for Salt Lake, the people of that part of Utah at last have awakened fo the fact that they were being "worked" by the biggest grafter in the Btate. at least that is the construction con-struction one is forced to place on the (following from the Provo Post of September 1: "Fewer Provo people attended the 'Wizard of the Wasatch' show this year than have attended a Salt Lake festival in a number of years, and that, too, with better facilities for getting to the state capital than we have hereto enjoyed The lack of interest in that carnival shows good Judgment on the part of the Provo people. They could have gone in great crowds and when they arrived in our sister city they could have had their nickels, dimes and quarters extracted ex-tracted to see 'tbe floating match, for men only' and similar 6kin games that were conducted under Salt Lakej police protection, if they had so de-. sired, but not so. It is becoming more apparent all the time that thej Provo people are not ready for the 'shearer' every few weeks, so do not bite readily for every baited hook put out by our wily neighbor on the north. We can give better entertainment entertain-ment at home than that pulled off in Salt Lake last week, and the people will have more real enjoyment than they could possibly get in such stunts! as were handed out to tbe visitors. Furthermore, it 1b time for us to think more or centering our Intei-ests Intei-ests around our home town. Here we are going to get the benefit of our efforts and all of tbe people bSVS an opportunity to participate in thej amusements When a part of the people leave town others cannot get enough interest worked up to do biK1 things. When all stay home, such successes as Pioneer day will occur more frequently and the fraternal feeling of brotherhood will make Provo a better city." Salt Lake has been having too many "hurrahs." There is an over-I over-I strained effort to pick up every stray j penny in the slate and the people I are growing tired of Hie very selfish ' spirit which prompts this money-get-I tinK wizardry. |
