Show uo JAMES SHAW DIES OF INFLUENZA AT FT. DOUGLAS NORTH OGDEN, Dec. 9 North Ogden Og-den again is draped in sad mourning because another soldier boy has been called upon to offer tho supreme sacrifice sac-rifice of his noble life for his country's coun-try's cause. James Shaw died of pneumonia, following influenza, at Fort Douglas, Sunday evening at S:30. His father and mother wero summoned to his bedside Sunday and found that he had developed a severe case of pneumonia pneu-monia following Influenza and ho rap-Idly rap-Idly grow worse until death came. Coming down through so noblo an ancostry as Elijah Shaw Sr., and Martha Mar-tha Ann Thonins on the ono lino and James Barker and Polly E. Blodget on tho other, as grand parents nnd his father and mothor, Samuel Shaw and Harriet L. Barker, he could not fail to have nobility of character. He was born at North Ogden, October 27, 1897, received his infant blessing January 2, 1S9S, by James Storey, was bap-tized bap-tized November 4, 1905 by Thomas F. Brown and confirmed next day by Da-vid Da-vid E. Randall, and In early youth be-gan be-gan to be given the different orders j of the priesthood, b.eing ordained a deacon Dec. 27, 1909, by Newman H. lH Barker, a teacher Jan. 5, 1913. by No-phi No-phi J. Brown and a priest January 11, IH 1914 by Arthur G. BerretL Early life ,M manlfostating a willingness to labor along ecclesiastical lines for the bet- 'H tcrmcnt of his fellows and showing 'H such marked ability, his labors wero jH soon sought after and ho was mado IH superintendent of Sunday school. He was industrious frugal and en-tcrprlsing, en-tcrprlsing, receiving his education in the local schools, Weber Normal col-lego col-lego and the Utah Agricultural college. Ho received most excellent training on the farm in early life, but developed. a liking for mechanical engineering and making rapid strides along that line, he became quite proficient. But as soon as ho reached the draft age, he enlisted in the service of his coun-try coun-try and was assigned to Fort Douglas 'H for training, where his death occurred. H Ho is survived by his father and mo-ther mo-ther and the following brothers, Sam-uel Sam-uel Albert, Parley Allen, Evan Clair, 'H Harold Elmer.and Volney Leroy. One 'H sister Jennie preceded the deceased in death. il Funeral services will be announced later, pending the arrival of the body Hl from Salt Lake. Interment will be in North Ogden cemetery. ! |
