Show FOUR MAKE TENDERS FOR SILVER SERVICE Committee Considers Designs for State's Gift to New Battleship Utah. Salt Lake, June 0. Tbe committee appointed by Governor William Spry to provide means for the funds for the purchase of the silver service I be presented to the new battleship I'tah and to select a design, spent all of Wednesday afternoon In looking look-ing over and considering the designs offered by bidders for the sorlce The meeting was held In the governors gov-ernors office and every member of ihe committee was present. The committee Is composed of Governor Spry, D. C. Jackliag. A. C. Nelson, state superintendent of schools; D II. Chrlstenseii. city superintendent of schools; A. H. Hey wood of Ogden, Miss Fay liose of Provo and Mrs A W. McCune of Salt I-ike. There were four competitors, who submitted extensive and elaborate drawings of their designs for the ion-sid ion-sid ration of the committee Bailey, Banks & Blddle of Philadelphia sub milted drawings and accompanied them with n letter giving juices. Joseph Meyer & Brother of Seattle submitted drawings They were represented rep-resented by Sam C. Park of this city. The drawings of Sin eve & Co., of San Francisco were represented hv the Daynes Jewelry company of this city, and the designs of the Gorham ManufacturiiiK company of New York were presented by the J. II. Leyson company of this illy. The service will cost approximately approximate-ly $15,000, as that is the limit which will be available for that purpose. Tbe committee did not complete the work of considering the designs and 'adjourned until next Thursday afternoon after-noon at 2 o'clock, at which time a selection will be made after the bids of the four firms aie opened and considered. |
