Show Fcur-H Club Girls Like to Ply Thread Reports Show Clothing was the most popular project among 4-H club girls of Utah during the past year, with home furnishings and food projects pro-jects running close competition, Miss Fern Shipley, assistant club leader, reports. From a tabulation made in the state office, records of the 667 clubs show that in 1940 2,199 dresses and 5,986 other articles were the products of a season's work by girls enrolled in clothing projects, while foods members prepaid 27,099 seperate dishes of food products, prepared and served 4,725 meals and caned 14,321 jars of fruits, vegetables and . meats. Home furnishings girls improved 41 rooms and made 300 articles. Boys of the state manifested a keen interest in livestock during the year with records showing that members owned 153 purebred and 268 grade dairy animals, 36 purebred and 277 grade beef cattle cat-tle 576 purebred and 223 grade sheep, 469 purebred and grade swine. Other projects for boys included: inclu-ded: crops and gardens, forestry and wildlife, poultry, horticulture and home grounds improvement. Samples of achievement in project pro-ject work carried on by 5286 clu boys and girls in Utah, were pti . on exhibition during the year hi the following show and fairs: Utah State fair, Ogden Livestock show, two eastern state fairs, (Pacific International Livestock show at Portland and the Denver Livestock Live-stock show. Both delegates and exhibits were sent to the 4-H Club Congress in connection with the International Livestock show at Chicago. |
