Show Job Listings For Government Skilled Workers This list contains information about positions for which qualified quali-fied applicants have been especially especi-ally difficult to locate.- The latest issue of this "United States Civil Service Commission Consolidated List" as it is officially offi-cially and completely called shows that shore establishments of the Navy, and arsenals, armories, armor-ies, and air depots of the War Department need workers for such varied employment as aircraft engine test operators, instrument makers, lens grinders, gage makers and checkers, aircraft electricians, parachute mechanics, ordancemen, procurement inspectors, harness-machine harness-machine operators, ironworkers, tool -grinders, and bombsight mechanics. Positions are now open at yards and arsenals throughout the United Uni-ted States at such varied locations as Bremerton, Washington; Pen-sacola, Pen-sacola, Flordia; San-Antonio, Texas; Tex-as; Springfield Massachusetts; and Dayton, Ohio. Over 100 qualified machinists are needed at Water-town Water-town Arsenal, Massachusetts: almost al-most 200 lens grinders could be I employed immediately at Frank-ford Frank-ford Arsenal. Pennsylvania; 200 ( shipfitters are being snught fori Ihe yard at Bremerton. Washing- I ton; and over 150 aircraft scet-metal scet-metal workers are needed at San-Antonio. San-Antonio. Texas. Through the Civil Service Commission Com-mission and its local rating examiners, ex-aminers, qualified workers for civilian ci-vilian defense jobs in the skilled trades of the war and navy departments de-partments are being picked from unemployment, part time employment, employ-ment, and employment in which no use is made of basic skills. In locating applicants, close cooperation coop-eration is maintained with the United States Employment Service, Ser-vice, and interested persons may obtain assistance at the Employment Employ-ment Service offices in filing applications. ap-plications. Written examinations are not given for any Federal positions in skilled trades included in the Consolidated list, but applicants are "passed" on qualifying experi- ence and training as shown in their notarized applications. Application Appli-cation forms are available at any post office. The forms, when properly pro-perly filled out and sworn to, are rated by boards of civil service examiners at the establishment concerned, the applicants receive direct notification of t.eir ratings and, if appointed, a telegram from the appointing officer telling them when and where to appear for their first day's work in "Democracy's "Democ-racy's Arsenel." |
