Show Radio Program Aids Farmers Intermountain Network Carries KVNU Release i "Farm and Home Facts," a new j addition to the Utah Extension Service family of radio programs, ; opened its five day a week schedule sched-ule Monday, as Director W. W. Owens introduced the new feature fea-ture to audiences of radio station sta-tion KVNU. The program will be heard over the intermountain network. net-work. The seasonal schedule of the new "shows" was described by the director cn Monday's opener, who stated that the Extension Service hopes "to present a varied program, pro-gram, one that takes into consideration con-sideration the whole gamut of farm and family living." He discussed dis-cussed the position of members of the service, specialists in various ' fields. In the words of the director, one day will bring talks on dairying, dairy-ing, another on poultry management, manage-ment, followed by such pertinent topics of farm life as food conservation, con-servation, livestock, feeding, clothing, cloth-ing, or gardening. Another series of talks will bring the latest and best methods of raising hogs, growing crops of various kinds, growing fruits and vegetables, furnishing a home, keeping accounts, ac-counts, repairing farm machinery, saving time and effort in performing perform-ing daily chores and tasks about the farm and home, producing crop and vegetable seeds, control of pests and diseases in the gar-, den, eradication of diseases in poultry and livestock. Both national and state interpreters inter-preters of the changing agricultural agricul-tural scene will present the current cur-rent situation for program listeners. listen-ers. Men in Washington who are in position to view the new problems prob-lems being met by the federal agricultural and food agencies will relay their information to the Extension Service in Logan. Another phase of the program will be a question and answer day, in which farmers and home-makers home-makers may submit their problems prob-lems and ask for help from the specialists. The work of county agents and workers throughout the state will be explained in addition. |
