Show School Board OK's Renovation Renovation of the shops of the Lewiston, Smithfield and Wells-ville Wells-ville junior high schools, the North Cache senior high school and, if necessary, the South Cache junior high school was authorized by the Cache county board of education at a meeting in Logan Thursday. Authorizing maximum expenditures expendi-tures of $2500 for the shops and three school kitchens, the board acted to provide better facilities for farm machinery repair projects pro-jects in the shops this winter and looked forward to a postwar expansion ex-pansion of vocational training in the schools, Superintendent J. W. Kirkbride explained. The shop improvement program is under direction of Dr. H. B. Bunderson, state director of trades and industrial education, with cooperation of the Utah State Agricultural college industrial indus-trial division, Mr. Kirkbride said. Renovation of the Wellsville junior high school kitchen is almost al-most finished, and is expected to be ready for use next week, Superintendent Su-perintendent Kirkbride Bald. The board authorized improvements at the Richmond elementary school kitchen and accepted the high bid of $285 submitted by Leo Pitcher of Smithfield for the old residence building on the Smith-field Smith-field Junior high school grounds. The kitchen which has been used in the building will be moved to the Summit school basement. The board supported the county Fourth war loan drive by approving ap-proving purchase of $50,000 worth of seven-eights per cent treasury notes. Miss May Hansen of Cornish was appointed temporary principal princi-pal of the Cornish school, replacing replac-ing Leonard Casterline who is in army service. |
