Merrill, prominent' Logan dentist, civic and political leader, has been appointed to the Utah State Agricultural College Board of Trustees by Governor Herbert B. Maw. He will fill the term of the late Dr. J. Morris Godfrey of Richmond, which expires on July 1, 1947. H", 'has been a leader in civic, political and professional circles for several years and throughout his lifetime ho has been an active ac-tive supporter of Utah State Agricultural Ag-ricultural college interests. A native of Smithfield, where he was born July 13, 1895 a son of Albert "J. and Ida Harper Merrill, Mer-rill, Dr. Merrill attended Cache county schools and was graduated in 1917 from the Chicago college of Dental surgery. He served in the army dental corps with the Seventh regular division in France during the first world war and was discharged dis-charged as a captain in 1919. An active member of the American Amer-ican Legion and Kiwanis club in Logan, he served as a member of the county library board for four years and for eight years was judge of the Utah first district juvenile court. He served for several sev-eral years on the college coordination coordin-ation committee of the Logan chamber of commerce. Chairman of the Cache county Democratic party since April, 1942, he was a candidate for mayor or Logan in a close election elec-tion last November. He has been practicing dentistry dent-istry In Logan since 1920 and is past president of the Utah State Dental society. DR. W. W. MERRILL |
