Show Dairymen Will See State Guernsey Herds Development of guernsey breeds in Utah will be scrutinized by national and state dairymen July 11 and 12 when Karl B. Musser of Peterborough, New Hampshire, secretary of American Guernsey Cattle club and editor of the Guernsey Breeders' Journal, and some of his associates make a tour of the herds in the state, according to George B. Caine, head of the dairy department at Utah State Agricultural college. Mr. Musser will be accompanied accompan-ied on his visit by C. M. Cum-mings, Cum-mings, also of Peterborough, who is in charge of the advanced registering re-gistering department of the club. These two will be joined in Salt Lake City by Jack Robinson, California Cal-ifornia fieldman who formerly served in Utah, and C. A. Smith, fieldman, for Utah and the Northwest. North-west. Hall S. Bennett of 1680 East 45th south, Salt Lake City, and president of the Utah Guernsey Breeders' association, has outlined out-lined the program for the tour which will begin at the Murray city park 9:30 a. m. July 11. From here the group will visit herds belonging to J. B. Erickson, Murray; Mur-ray; Elmer Madsin, 3996 So. 4 East streets; A. G. Wallin, 1045 East 45So. streets; and Mr. Bennett. Ben-nett. At the Bennett lunch will be served following which a short meeting will be held at which the visitors will discuss some of the problems of Guernsey breeders and the dairy business in the United States. From here the tour will proceed pro-ceed north to Davis Countv to visit herds of Leland Smith and Ezra Moss at Woods Cross, and then will continue toward Ogden on the upper road to visit C. A. Ferrin's Edgehill dairy at Tyler Avenue and 39 South Street in herd the next stop will be North Ogden where Joe Chadwick's and the Randall Brothers herds will be the last visited that day. Saturday morning will be spent at Dr. C. J. Daines' herd at Logan, following which the visitors will leave for a fishing trip in Idaho. |
