Show CHANCE TO BEAT HITLER The astonishing action of Adolf Hitler, in invading Russian territory, gives the democracies of the world a real chance to put Adolph Hitler where he belongs. Less than two years ago, his government had signed sign-ed up for co-operation and non-aggression with the nation it is now attacking. The soviet government was apparently willing to accede to about all his demands. "Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad," is an old saying. Hitler was fairlv near beino- mad when he attacked an army which trained reserves numbers over 10,000,000 men. In equipment and organization the Nazi army is far superior, but those Russians can fight like tigers. Many of them in the World War fought when they had no guns at all. The Nazis may penetrate well into Russia territory, and some people think those Russians will soon give up. The Bolshevist leaders have been cherishing their dream of Communism as the power that was going to conquer the earth. It would hardly seem as if in their infatuation with this dream they would lie down and give up. When a man like Joseph Stalin has made himself the master of nearly 200,000,000 people, there is such a thing as pushing him a little bit too far. This new war should give Britain . a breathing-space breathing-space and a chance for a might assult on the Nazi war lords. The United States should not let up a particle parti-cle m its preparations for defense, and for aid to the countries that refuse to lie down under the heel of any master. Napoleon Bonaparte, the world terror of lo0 years ago, had like Hitler conquered the greater part of Europe. But when he tried to invade Russia, his fearful power collapsed. It is likely to be so with the mighty Hitler. |
