What are you saving them for? The Smithsonian? A garage sale? Here's another alternative: the 11th annual Park City Ski Swap. "We will accept any winter sports equipment," says Bob Marsh, coach of the Park City Ski Team. "We would like to offer people a chance to get rid of their second-hand equipment." Here's how it works: on Friday, Nov. 5, you bring your used equipment to the Treasure Mountain Middle School (that's the new school east of the high school soccer field) between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. People will be there to help you decide on an asking price. There is no registration fee. At 10 a.m. Saturday, the sale will officially begin. Adults attending the event will be asked for a $2 entry fee. Children under 12 will be admitted free. It will run until 6 p.m. Saturday, then again from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. At 4 p.m. Sunday, those who brought equipment to be sold will be asked to pick up the proceeds (minus 15 percent) , or any unsold items. The $2 admission fee and the 15 percent commission will go to the Park City Educational Foundation, the funding arm of the Park City Ski Team. Marsh said that last year's profit amounted to about $4,500. This year's proceeds are earmarked for new video equipment for the team. Door prizes will be awarded to ticket-holders during the swap. Although the swap is primarily designed to sell used equipment, Marsh said that some new items may also be available at bargain prices. r CHEAP RENT Beth Marcellin had a turkey.
