Millard High School this year She has been teaching in the area for quite some time and although she taught some of us in elementary school she’s just now catching up We’re all glad that you’re back with us at the high school Mrs Nielsen Nielsen Mrs graduated from Spanish Fork High School and then she went on to attend Dixie College and SUSC She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education with minors in child development and English She also picked up a media endorsement She is the new high school librarian and is already showing us what a great job she can do Her husband Dallin Nielsen is a recruiter for the National Guard over and the Delta Fillmore Gunnison Manti areas He is also an EMT and president of the ambulance team is children of three the oldest Amy a senior this year She enjoys singing Shane is a and playing the piano sophomore and is on the football team Jill is three and one half and keeps everyone busy Julie Homecoming Candidates Ballots were passed around Delta High School this week with all of the senior girls’ names on them Students were then told to vote for ten girls When the totals were in these ten girls became the candidates for homecoming queen The girls are pictured above These ten girls will perform at an assembly in their honor Thursday night at 7:30 in the DHS Auditorium The girls will perform a skit and at the conclusion of the assembly be escorted in formals to the stage where MHS Homecoming the Homecoming Queen and her At the court will be announced Ron assembly singerperformer as a Williams will be performing preview of his concert which is to be held Saturday Sept 26 at 8 pm in the DHS Auditorium This event is free of charge and everyone is welcome Attention: The Homecoming Dance on Friday night Sept 25 is going to be held in the DHS gym not in the Palomar Annie” The years musical put on by the DHS Drama Club is “Annie” the Broadway and box office smash The directors for this musical are Mr Lamb and Mr Wankier “With a talented cast as this musical boasts it will undoubtedly become successful” said Liz Peterson Mr Lamb reconforms the rather worn cliche “this year we have a great cast” The lead role Annie” will be played by Nicole and Kate Nielson This is unique not only in the fact that this is the only doublecast role but because the two are sisters Parts are played by students who have had experience performing in past school musicals and also by beginners who would like to give performing a try Practice begins Sept 14 and performances are scheduled for Nov “With the combination of excellent leading the cheers beginning in the third quarter This is the second year the former cheerleaders have been invited to cheer at the homecoming game Delta High is hoping that the cheerleaders will come football game against the Delta Rabbits on Friday October 2 at Marshall and Jody Young won “Lucky Tray" for the Birthday Dinner on Wednesday Sept 16 The cooks are promoting their delicious hot lunch program by doing special things for the children In doing so they prepared two giant cookies as prizes for the “Lucky Tray" winners Congratulations Tyrell and Jody as winners of the giant cookies! 2 Monday September 28 MHS faculty Ron planned 2 will On his way to the top! How many professional athletes just drop what they’re doing and become professional recording artists? Well we happen to know of one: Ron Williams! Just three years ago Ron was playbaseball Now he’s an ing established recording artist ‘Tve never been too shy actually I’m a ham” says Ron “That’s why the transition from baseball to singing was no big deal” Ron also added that he never even imagined that all that locker room singing would ever convert to a career in musicl Ron still finds time for his obsession with sports traveling to tournaments all over the western states! "I’ve met some great people in both baseball and music” Ron’s recent release “Never Be Another” produced by nationally known producer Brian Blosil has already sold thousands across America Ron from Southern California will be in concert on Sept 26 at the DHS Auditorium at 8 pm Ron Baseball? Nielsen Some of the Nielsen’s hobbies clude camping fishing gardening and puttering around in the yard Mrs Nielsen has also been on the PTA board for three years This year she is in charge of the Potato Bash and would like to remind everyone to come by Julie Limburg Social Studies Sterling Scholar We would like to welcome Mr Tracy Kedl back to Millard High School as a new addition to the faculty Mr Keel graduated from Millard High in 1979 While at Millard he played on the football and basketball teams and participated in track After graduating from high school Mr Keel pursued his interest in sports He attended SUSC where he received a Bachelor of Arts in physical education Degree Mr Keel married Lynette Bradshaw who he met while at college in Cedar City Lynnette is a certified insurance agent They now live in Fillmore This is Mr Keel’s First year of teaching He is teaching social studies His interests include hunting and fishing Keel will enjoy We hope Mr teaching at Millard High He will be a great asset to our school and he and his wife will be a welcome addition to our community PTA Potato Bash The annual PTA Potato Bash is just around the corner Make sure you mark your calendars for October 1987 from 5 to 9:30 pm The PTA will be serving a variety of delicious toppings to smother a fresh baked potato along with salads hot steaming rolls and a luscious dessert This yearly affair has become one of the highlights of the high school PTA’s activities and helps sponsor scholarships and programs to benefit our school A program starring the Sunshine Generation and other local talent will keep you entertained while you fill your stomach This year’s potato bash will be a part of Homecomming week at Millard High School and will occur just before the famed “Bunny Burn” Come have a good time support the school and help generate some spirit See ya there! With 25 home games remaining save $3750 per adult $1250 per child Make checks payable to Delta High School Constitution Birthday STUDENTS AT Delta South celebrated the 200th Birthday of the Constitution on Wednesday Sept 16 1987 by observing the “National Program” over Channel 7 TV The students assembled in the Multipurpose room to take part in this program and pledge allegiance to the flag with President Reagan The 4th grade students recited the Preamble to the Constitution and the entire student body sang “God Bless America" The students were also involved in many other activities during the week in commerating this event Happy Constitution Day!
