Marpene died Thursday afternoon in Salt Lake Cily, at the LDS hospital hos-pital where she had been a patient for most of the time since July 9. Her death came just six days before be-fore her fifteenth birthday. Goldie Margene Miller was born in Delia Oct. 12, 1934 a daughter of J. Edwin and Goldie Osterberg Miller .She attended Delta element ary school and would have been a sophomore at Delta high school this year. Last year she was co-editor co-editor for the freshman Flash. In addition to school activities she was always active in the Delta Sec ond ward, where she had won every individual award to be earned. earn-ed. She was also a 4-H club member, mem-ber, and the dress she made a year ago won a blue ribbon at the 4-H fair. j Before the close of school this 1 year she became ill, but completed complet-ed school work with high hoors. Later in the summer she was taken tak-en to Salt Lake City for medical care, and the long-drawn out fight to save her life began. Her treatment Included blood transfusions, and on August 6 a complete blood transfusion was giv en in an attempt to cure acute hemolytic anemia. All her blood was exchanged for new. As far as is known, this was the first time in medical history such a method had been tried, and the case made national headlines. For a time it seemed that Margene Mar-gene was improving, and her condition con-dition was followed with the keenest keen-est interest. By August 20 she was able to leave the hospital. But as time went on the disease in her blood progressed, and despite every ev-ery effort that could be made her life could not be saved. Surviving are her parents, her sister Joyce, 9, brother Kent, 6, and a grandmother Mrs. Annie M. Robertson, of Provo. The services Monday opened with -a song, "Beautiful Home", by the Youth Chorus of which Mar gene had been a member. J. Avery Bishop directed, and Mrsi Thelma Black played the organ accompaniment. accompan-iment. The opening prayer was given by George Jensen. Lynn and Eloise Bassett played a piano and clarinet duet. Speakers were Mjss Gertrude Western, principal of Delta elementary ele-mentary school, Glen Seegmiller, principal of Delta high school both of whom had had Margene as a pupil. Mrs. Lucille Kimber, who had taught Margene in Primary and the past three years in MIA, and Bishop Black. They voiced the thoughts of all who knew Margene when they told of her fine qualities of character and spir itual strength. Other music in the services were a trumpet duet , " My Father Knows", by David Seegmiller and Harold Snow, accompanied by Don aid Western, "My Testimony" by the trio, Lila Mae Sampson Bonnie Black and Cherie Hannifin, and the closing song by the Youth chorus, "Parting Hymn" a favorite song of Margene's. William Miller her uncle from Provo, read a letter of appreciation from the family, 'thanking 'th-anking ward members and fellow citizens for their thoughtful aid through the time of Margene's illness ill-ness and death. He closed the service ser-vice with "prayer. Burial was in the Delta cemetery ceme-tery where the grave was dedicat- ed by E. Leo Lyman. Pall bearers were Keith Black, Larry Hortin, Ho 1 ward Hunsaker Donald Western Robert Harris, and Douglas Terry, classmates of Margene. The flow-, flow-, er girls were also classmates, and were Carolyn Callister, Dorothy Black, Ardyth Twitchell, and Ju-vene Ju-vene Adams. Many from out of town attended attend-ed the services, members of the family and friends. Among them were Mrs. Annie W. Robertson, of Shelley, Idaho., Mr. and Mrs. Will-I Will-I iam Miller, John Miller Mrs. Russell Rus-sell Miller, Provo, Mrs. Rollin Nelson, Nel-son, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Nelson Betty Bet-ty and Corinne Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Clarke, Miss Ellen Anderson, And-erson, Mrs. Edith Anderson Mrs. Edna Rolph, Mrs. Amy Miller, Mr. and Mrs. T.
