Show ADAMSVILLE Park Griffiths of Minersville spent Saturday and Sunday at the home of John Manhard. A farewell party was given for Miss Velma Evans last week who left for Los Angeles, Calif., Thursday. Shirley Puffer celebrated her sixth birthday Sunday. Ten of her little playmates were present all having an enjoyable time. Ward Morris of Newhouse stopped at Adamsville Monday on his return to Milford. Miss Mable Sherwood of Minersville Miners-ville spent the latter part of the week with Miss Norma Griffiths. Will Heslington is down at South Milford working on his farm. A number of Adamsville people were in Beaver Monday attending the bank meeting held in the court house. Miss Lucy Joseph is suffering with a severe burn on her arm. Miss Delia Johnson celebrated her eighteenth birthday Tuesday night by entertaining ten young couples. All report having had a good time. A midnight supper was served. MINERSVILLE Marcia and Madeline Dotson left Wednesday for their home in Glen-dale, Glen-dale, Calif. After having spent the past ten months here with their aunts Helen and Eva Stoddard. Mrs. Madge Carter is spending ten days at Panguitch with relatives and friends. Miss Ruby Hardy was a week-end visitor at Cedar City with her brother Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Baker and children Elaine and Dean of Beaver were in town Wednesday. Henry Gillins of Milford spent Saturday Sat-urday night here with his son, J. H. Gillins and family. Mrs. Pearl Morrell and children of Frisco spent Saturday here at the Claude Albrecht home. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Rogers and son Rex of Reed were in town Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Art Drake of California Cali-fornia are here where they were called call-ed on account of the serious illness of Mrs. Drake's mother, Mrs. Joseph Wood. Theone Gillins and Glen Stonehock-er Stonehock-er of Milford were in town Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mathews are spending a week at Antimony. Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Hall of Comp-ton, Comp-ton, Calif., were in town the first of the week. Mrs. Eva Wood of Parowan is here with her mother, Mrs. Charles Za-briskie. Za-briskie. The Misses Lola Roberts, Maude Myers and LaRue Blackburn attended attend-ed the baseball game at Beaver Sunday Mrs. LaMar Bohn and children have returned after visiting in Nevada Ne-vada with relatives. Celia and Alton Mathews of Antimony Anti-mony are spending a week here. GREENVILLE Jack Williams entertained a number num-ber of young people at a birthday party Wednesday. Charles Crawford, son Stan of Milford Mil-ford called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Frost Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Thompson and children, Loreen, Allen and Paul, and Bert Bonzo of Cedar City, visited with friends and relatives Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Blackner and family of Adamsville spent Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Orson Blackner and family. Frank Prior and R. H. Neilson of Milford called at the home of J. H. Morris Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Stout and daughter, Mary Lou who have spent the winter here moved to Buck Horn Tuesday where they will remain the rest of the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Kesler and family of Milford spent the week-end at the home of Mrs. Kesler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orson A. Blackner. Miss Barbara Morris entertained her club, at her home Thursday. Refreshments Re-freshments were served. Everyone had an enjoyable time. Miss Raema Barton entertained some of her friends at a waffle supper sup-per Tuesday night. Mr. Sargent of Panguitch visited friends and relatives here Thursday. Ray Easton of Beaver was in town Friday. Leland and Frank , Morris, Roy Barton, Bill Davis, Ira Walker, Arthur Ar-thur Blackner, Zealand S. Morris, D. J. Williams went to Milford Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Outzen of Hanging Rock called at the home of their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Perce M. Williams and family. James 'Williams, Jr., motored to Milford Friday. Scott Barton and son Hogarth of Richfield called at the home of Mr. Barton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan K. Barton Friday. R. C. Murdock and son Kent of Beaver was in town Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Murdock and children of Cedar City are spending a week or two at the home of their mother, Mrs. Julia K. Griffiths. Hazel Barton entertained a number num-ber of friends at an out door party Sunday night. Those who enjoyed themselves were Elmer Murdock, Jack and Editha Williams, Barbara Morris, Rae and Roy Barton, Gerald Barton, Lewis Atkin, Hazel and Ila Barton and Edgar Rollins. Everyone had an enjoyable time. Ralph Walbeck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Walbeck met with a very painful accident Sunday. While high ' jumping he fell on his hand breaking his hand above the wrist, j West Barton who has been working ; at North Creek for R. R. Thomas f or the past two weeks returned home Sunday. C. D. White of Beaver, was in town Monday on business. Dr. E. S. MeQuarrie of Beaver was in town Monday. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Mathews and son Keith of Milford called at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Barton Monday. Mrs. J. P. Barton and son Jack left Sunday for Salt Lake City where they will visit at the home of Mrs. Barton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harmon. Har-mon. BEAVER Mrs. Edith Woolsey is confined to her bed on account of illness. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Tattersall and baby who have been making their home in Cedar City for the past few months, returned Sunday and will spend the summer in Beaver. Neil Boyter is spending a few days in Milford. , Arnold Ashworth left Monday on the bus for Salt Lake, returning home Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Hall, of Comp-ton, Comp-ton, California, who have been visiting visit-ing with Mrs. Hall's mother, Mrs. Sousie Murdock, for the past week, left Monday for Nevada for a few days visit before returning to their home. Those attending the Martin Lang funeral, which was held Monday at three o'clock in the L. D. S. chapel at Paragonah were Mrs. H. K. Boyter and daughter Chloe, Wesley W. Far-rer, Far-rer, Mr. and Mrs. Mart Woolsey, Mr. and Mrs. James Riley, Mrs. Laura Paxton, Mrs. Sara Woolsey, and Milo Baker. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Fernley, Zola, and Eddie Ray Fernley accompanied by Mrs. Lamar Price spent Friday and Saturday in Salt Lake, returning home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. ICarl S. Carlton of Milford spent Monday and Tuesday visiting with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Patterson who have been living at Fillmore the past year have moved back to Beaver. They will make their home in the Austin Skinner home on the west side of town. Mr. and Mrs. Collis Huntington are moving into the Joe Briggs home this week. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Goodwin and daughter LaRae spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Goodwin. Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Frazier and three children of Cedar City spent Sunday with Mrs. Gene Hales. Mr!, and Mrs. John Frazier left Sunday for their home in Caliente after af-ter a weeks' visit with Mr. Frazier's sister, Mrs. Gene Hales. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. McMullen, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. William Nelson spent Friday afternoon in Milford . Alburn Nelson, who has been working work-ing for Sam White for the past year left Sunday for Salt Lake to find employment. em-ployment. Mrs. Ellen Westover returned to her home in Washington, after a weeks' visit with her daughter, Mrs. S. W. Wittwer and family. Miss Loula Tolton. who has been teaching school in the Granit district near Salt Lake, arrived home Thursday Thurs-day and is spending her vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Tolton. Tol-ton. Mrs. Lottie Pearce left Friday for Salt Lake where she will spend a few days with her children. Josephine Robinson, who has been in St. George for the past week visiting visit-ing with relatives is expected home Thursday. Mrs. J. A. Patterson spent Monday Mon-day in Paragonah, visiting with relatives rela-tives and friends. Mrs. Glenn Gillies and sister, Mrs. Abe Murdock, and children, spent Saturday in St. George visiting with relatives. Mrs. C. N. Ashman announces the engagement of her daughter Lucile to Mr. Carlos Murdock of Beaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. C. Murdock. The marriage will take place the latter part of this month in the St. George Temple. George Bennett, the little six-year-old son of Mrs. Aletha Bennett met with a painful accident Friday while playing. He fell over a stump of a tree breaking his collar bone. Dr. MeQuarrie set the broken bone and little George is now on the road to recovery. Mrs. Bennett and children of California Cali-fornia are spending the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Davis. At an American Legion meeting last week the following committee chairmen were selected to arrange for the Memorial day celebration: Commander Burt Swindlehurst, program pro-gram chairman; Dr. Edgar A. Petty, speaker; Milo Baker, music. J. F. Tolton, who has been confined to his home for the past week, is again greeting his customers at his place of business. Sam Worthman, the chef at the Low Hotel returned Monday from Provo where he had been spending a week with his wife, who is visiting at the home of her parents. o Tests show that the cost of running run-ning a car over a smooth surface road is about one per cent less a mile than the cost on plain gravel. |
