Show STUDIES ENCLOSURE PLOTS 1NMSTRICT Grazing Inspector Orange Olsen of the Ogden Office, and Deputy State Fish & Game Warden R. L. Turpin, together with Supervisor Mattsson and Ranger Christensen spent the week from June 20 to 25 in selecting experimental plots on the summer range and low range to determine the effects of deer grazing on the various types of forage. On each of the areas involved a plot was selected select-ed and fenced so that both deer and livestock would be selected and fenced fenc-ed including livestock but admitting deer. Within these enclosures a quadrat was charted, and the browse and tree species measured and mapped. map-ped. In connection with these fence areas on the summer, intermediate and low range, a quadrat will be charted on the open range, grazed by livestock and deer. In these studies it is believed that some valuable information in-formation will be gathered concerning concern-ing the forage most palatable to deer, and the extent that the various species can be grazed without injury. Supervisor Mattsson returned to the Office last Saturday afternoon. Messrs. Olsen and Turpin will remain re-main on the Beaver Distinct until about July 3. |
