Show PROMINENT MINING AND STOCKMEN DIES SUDDENLY MONDAY John Ryan, Foumer County Commissioner of Beaver County, Victim of Heart Attack At-tack at His Home in Burbank John Ryan, prominent cattleman of this county since 1877, passed away at his home, at Burbank, in the west part of the county, Monday evening at about ,five o'clock, following follow-ing a heart attack. Mr. Ryan had been assisting in killing hogs, when he suddenly took ill. Going into the house and lying down, he expired about fifteen minutes later. Mr. Ryan was 75 years of age. John Ryan was one of the most widely known cattlemen of this section, sec-tion, having come here from Montana in 1877, and run cattle for several years in both states. He had also engaged en-gaged extensively in mining ,and was a brother of Denney Ryan, the original orig-inal owner of the Horn Silver mine at Frisco. In the early days of this county he was a member of the Ryan & Heme Cattle Company, well known over the entire west. He was county commissioner of Beaver county for several terms in the early '90's. Born, in Montreal, Canada, August 16, 1S56, he came to the United States Stat-es with his two brothers, Pat and Denney ,when about 20 years of age. They located first in Montana and engaged in the cattle business and later extended their operations into Utah. Mr. Ryan was united in marriage to Caroline Clements, of Minersville, at Frisco, Utah, in 1888. He is survived sur-vived by his wife, three sons, Arthur C. Ryan, of Salt Lake City; Harold P. Ryan, of Milford; J. Douglas Ryan Ry-an of Draper; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Sallee, of Milford; seven grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Annie McKee, of Long Beach, Calif. Funeral services were held in Milford Friday at the L. D. S. church, with Hon. J. F. Tolton, William A. Miller Mil-ler an Frank D. Williams as the speakers. The remains were taken to Salt Lake, where additional services ser-vices will be held at the Neal O'Don-ald O'Don-ald Funeral Parlors, after which the body will lie in sate at the Sunset Mausoleum. |
