Impor-tance. It Is at this time that a child's meals should be carefully supervised. They require a much larger percentage percent-age of body-building material than adults. Milk, which Is called the perfect per-fect food, has all the body-building materials except iron. As iron Is a most Important element it, too, must be supplied. We get It in such vegetables vege-tables as spinach, chard, water cress, carrots and turnip tops, as well as beets when served as greens. Some children dislike milk; thli fact only makes the problem more difficult. They may, by diplomacy, be Induced to drink two or three glasses a day If given a struw or colorful sippers to use at the table. A pretty pitcher with a cup of the same design or bright-colored glass often may be helpful In getting them to take an Interest in milk drinking, pictures placed on the bottom of the glass and not visible until the milk has been drunk is another method used by mothers. Milk dishes, simple puddings help along the milk diet, but milk is not enough; the child roust have meat, flsh and eggs, which are the valuable protein foods needed to build body material. Grains such as cereals, bread, and macaroni are the energy-building foods. Solid foods are necessary and It Is a great mistake to depend alone upon milk. Cream and butter are the best form of fat for children and these, too, are very necessary In a balanced diet |
