Show THE POST OFFICE SPEAKS Local postal employees are very desirous that Milford people get their Christmas mailing started as earl-as earl-as possible. Postmaster T. C. Martin addresses the following plea to postal patrons and asks their co-operation ; "In order that your Christmas packages may be sure to reach destination des-tination before Christmas Day, it is imperative that they be mailed early, for though all employees show :i willingness to give unsparingly of their time, there are always conditions condi-tions over which we have no control which may delay mail. Some of these are possible snow blockades, congestion conges-tion at terminal railway post offices, and unprecedented colume of mail. So please remember that early mailing mail-ing will mean more expeditious handling." hand-ling." The following summarized mailing directions will make more efficient the handling of the large volume of Christmas mail: Wrap securely. Write plainly the fuull name, street number or post box, the town, county, and state of desina-tion. desina-tion. Write the name of the state in full, for several states have abbreviations abbrevia-tions that may be mistaken in hasty-reading. hasty-reading. Two instances are Miss, and Mass., and Col. and Cal. Write the full address of the sender send-er by the word 'from' in the upper left-hand corner of the wrapper or envelope- In selecting stamps avoid, if possible, pos-sible, using one and two-cent stamps on heavy parcels. Stamps come in large denominations and it is. easier for the post office department to stamp a few than extended row. The time saved on thousands of packages amounts to many hours. |
