Show Death's Harvest. Within tho past ten day days, three good men have passed away, lllshop W. II. Mauglian, Pros. W. H. Lewis and Jasper Lemon. They were members mem-bers of that hardy bunch of pioneers, whose labors and trials have made it possible for us to enjoy tho comforts com-forts of today. Slowly and pathetically pathetic-ally Is old Father Time showing himself him-self upon the brows of the "home builder," and one by one are they removed re-moved from this earthly sphere. Hut after all, death is the end that awaits us all; there Is no alternative. Whether we be among tho lowly or tho high: rich or poor; good or bad; tho gravo must close over us all. To us it seems that these men can go to their maker well satisfied with their work while hero with us. Nothing Noth-ing is of more satisfaction after all, than to know that you have done your duty by your fellow man, and these men certainly have done well the duty set apart for them. Dcatli came suddenly to two of these men. In the morning they were apparently ap-parently In the best of health and spirits, but ere the sun had sunk to its rest, these men had entered en-tered their long sleep. The suddenness sud-denness with which these two pioneers were called, again brings to mind that none of us can tell how long we may bo here, and the time for our departure may conic at any moment. It is well then to be prepared pre-pared for ultimate, besides being ready In a spiritual way, It is almost al-most our duty to have our financial and personal affairs in such a condition condi-tion that our family and relatives may not be left in an cmbarasslng position, after we are gone. How many fathers of today have a home free from any Incumbrance? Those whose homes that aie In any way under a ban, owe It to their family to free It at once. Another .thing. How many fathers take their oldest son or daughter Into their confidence and make them familiar fami-liar with his financial affairs? There aro many fathers who do this, but, no doubt, tticrc are an equal number who do not. It should be dono, as it will rcliee the mother and family from anxiety; sometimes save law suits, and most of all be a protection to coining generations. |
