Show L- D. S. SCHOOLS. j From'the report of the super- j intendent of Church schools, Dr. ' J. M Tanner, to the general', boa rd cf education at its la.jt j meeting, some interesting statis- i tics respecting the status of these are obtained. With the ex-j ex-j ception of theology, these schools are on practically the same basis as the schools of the state. It appears that there, are 20 colleges col-leges and academies located in Utah. Idaho, Arizona, and Old Mexico; that the attendance in these schools for the school year ending June 30, 1902, reached j 5,240, an excess of 941 over , that of the preceding year. The j total expenditures for general ; maintenance and the salaries of I teachers for the year ending 1 1002 was 8162,045.34, making the 'average expense per student $30.92 . The number of teachers employed for Ihe year ending-June ending-June 30, 1901, was 152; for thei year ending in 1902, it was lwvs, j an increase of 8t teachers. The j iij creased expenditure cf the last1 school, year over the preceding one y.'hs $27,047.24. The total value of the school buildings.. 'and equipments is placed at 725,000. |
