Show U. & N. Railway [Utah and Northern Railway] Notes. The new round house is progressing finely. A severe wind storm is being experienced at Camas. The snow fence along the line of the railroad in that vicinity has been blown into heaps like huge stacks of lumber. Iron for one hundred miles of track has recently been purchased and is now being rapidly shipped forward to the end of the track, preparatory to next season's work. The purchase of so much iron indicates that the idea originally entertained of only extending the road 40 or 50 miles next summer must have been abandoned. Mr. L. H. Russell, representing the firm of Coe & Carter at this point, and a gentleman from Omaha, acting for the U. & N., will probably proceed in a few days to examine all the ties lying south of Snake River. The ties piled at different points between Logan River and the Snake, number in the vicinity of 200,000? and they are to be counted and a price is to be put upon them according to quality. |
