Review Correspondent Holes in the roof of the ROY Roy Recreation Complex are making fiscal holes in Roy Citys WHERE THE CHOICES ARE budget. The buildings asphalt and gravel roof needs to be replaced, but Roy City Manager Richard Kirkwood said there are currently no funds to cover the projected $60,000 to $80,000 ex- OGDEN T, pense. We are reviewing all sources of revenue and looking over department expenditures. There is a chance we can find it in this years budget but we wont know until February when we reopen the budget, said Kirkwood. He said he is exploring the pos- sibility of financial arrangements to delay payment until the start of the new fiscal year in July. Plans are to begin work on the roof this spring. Virgil Howe, director of the complex, said the roof has been a continuing problem for the last several years. Weve been patching the roof for awhile, but this winter when the snow melted, it just came all at once. We were originally scheduled to replace the roof this year as part of the capital improvement program. The thought was we could make it last another year. Althought use of the complex has not been hindered, the leaks are serous enough that garbage cans have been put in the second floor weight room to catch leaks. The city is considering four options in replacing the roof. If a decision is made to use asphalt and gravel again, the roof will have to be modified from a flat top to a pitched roof costing $45,000 for the new roof and $15,000 for the modificaiton. Other possible coverings would not require pitching the roof, but are more expensive. Care Center Given Okay FARMINGTON PIPELINE SHEETS BY UTICA twin size 6.99 2.00. About a month ago, Blaine Since the zone allows day care centers as a special use, he asked that residential care centers be added to the list. But when the issue came before the City Council recently, council members rejected the idea. Butler appeared again Wednesday before the council to ask them for a public hearing to consider an addition to the B2 zones conditional use section. This time his request was approved. The public hearing will be on Feb. 20 during City Council meeting. Last Tuesday night, the language on the proposed section was finalized in a city Planning Commission meeting. The center will not be a nursing home, Butler said. Instead, the home, located on 510 N. 200 W., will house from eight to 12 mentally competent people who need meals prepared for them, as well as additional care. Butler said he must be by the Utah Department of Health, which are stringent in their requirements. He will not be allowed to offer medical care, and residents needreing a doctors attention will be medical a to facility, to go quired he said. After some discussion, council members decided the proposed conditional use would not be in conflict with the citys revision of its master plan, to be completed in May.
