Good planning for future growth is essential. One of the crucial items is to stabilize and expand our. imbalanced tax base, so we must encourage commercial and industrial development. : As our economic base expands, we plan to construct a new library to serve an expanding population and to develop a community center; We also want to implement automated inventory control. Films Can Be Checked Out Through Davis Libraries The Davis County Library FARMINGTON filmstrip collection has slowly grown. The library! now has more than 735 filmstrips which can be checked out. Subjects range from African folklore to zoology. The filmstrips are housed at the headquary ters library in Farmington, but through loan, are available on one days notice at the South Branch Library in Bountiful and at the North Branch Library in Clearfield. Each branch has a limited subject catalog on the filmstrips. Because of the limitation, patrons should ask the Branch Reference Librarian.'to check with the headquarters library in Farmington for any subject not found in the branch catalog. Those who go to the headquarters library should look in the regular card catalog for the filmstrips. They are listed under author, title, subject, Filmstrips, and sometimes under a series, such as Chronicles of America. The catalog card will give more information inter-librar- filmstrip, 2) whether the filmstrip is in color or black and white, and 3) in what form the script comes - cassette, record, booklet, or on the filmstrip itself. If you want the booklet, you must ask the reference librarian for it as it will not be automatically included. . All cards on the filmstrips have the words Film Strip typed in the upper left hand corner. When filmstrips are locacted, write down the number that appears under the words Film Strip. Then, take the list of numbers to any of the reference librarians and ask them to get the filmstrips for you. Since there is a heavy demand for filmstrips, especially from September through May, it will save time to have a number of filmstrips listed, but do not need all of them immediately. This will prevent having to go back to the catalog and search further if your first choices are out. But its something you never think about when youre well. So with even a minor illness, many people end up at the hospital Emergency Department because they dont know a doctor to call. No Emergency Department, of course, will ever refuse to treat your common cold. But Emergency Departments are not meant to replace personal physicians or provide you with the same kinds of services. Thats why Davis North Medical Center has developed the Physician Information Service. Its a way for new residents, and others without a personal physician, to easily locate a doctor in the specialty they need, convenient to their home or place of work. There is no charge for this service. Finding a personal physician before youre sick makes good sense for many reasons. The doctor can get to know you and your medical history and you have the opportunity to talk with the physician to make sure you feel comfortable with him or her. Regular checkups can reveal hidden medical problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure or anemia that often are present but have no symptoms. And should you become ill or have an accident, your physician will be better prepared to offer treatment with knowledge of your medical background. If you dont have a personal physician now, dont wait until youre sick to find one. Call the Physician Information Service offered by Davis North Medical Center. Secrist will be on the ballot for mayor of West Bountiful again Nov. 3. Secrist says that he has based his campaign on honest efficient city government. Secrist was born and raised in Farmington and has lived most of his life in Davis County. He worked for IML Freight, Inc., for 45 years. He was senior president of equipment and maintenance at the time of his retirement. When the West Bountiful city manager resigned on June 1, 1979, Secrist assumed the responsibility of both mayor and city manager, he said.
