Show Lakeside Review South, Wednesday, May 4, Davis PTA Sweeps Awards SALT LAKE CITY The Davis County PTA organization swept many awards during a state PTA convention April 27 and 28. The Davis region (Region III) was recognized as the outstanding region in the state. Davis Region PTA director Del Jean Cook was recognized as the outstanding region director in the state. Two Davis County PTA councils tied for the outstanding council award in the state. The two were the Davis Central and North Council headed by Edrice Christensen, PTA council presi i dent; and the Davis South Council headed by Tibby Milne, council president. During the convention, Mrs. Cook was named the new vice president over leadership of the state PTA organization. Kay Rich, who was serving as Davis region secretary will now become the secretary of the state PTA organization. Janice Ridges will take over as the Davis region director. Ms. Ridges was the associate director before her new appointment. Edrice Christensen will serve as the new associate director. Awards Ceremony Tonight A Davis regBOUNTIFUL ion PTA awards ceremony will be held tonight at Bountiful High School at 7 p.m. All principals in the district and all PTA presidents and their spouses will attend the ceremony, according to Del Jean Cook, region PTA presi- parents will also be at the cere- mony. Also many Davis School District officials will attend. Mrs. Cook said the region this year will give an award for outstanding community service, a new award. Members of the center as well as the general public are invited to attend. Ms. Mehmert is a resident of Bountiful and a member of the Art League. She is also a member of the Utah Watercolor Society, the Southwest Watercolor Society, and the Pastel Society of the Southwest. She is represented by LaPlacita Gallery in Old Town Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has studied with nationally known watercolorists such as Robert F. Wood, Zoltan Szabo, Frank Webb, George Shook, and Raymond Kinstler. ' Ms. Mehmerts studio is located in her home where she also teaches watercolor classes. Her studio is open to visitors by appointment. Reservations are required to attend the luncheon and the demonstration and may be obtained by calling the Art Center at by Monday, May 9.
