Show Redmen Cut Hoop Squad to 23 for Pre-Season Tilts Coach Alma Garrett has cut his Cedar high school basketball squad to 23 men in preparation for the first practice game at Beaver Saturday night. However the coach is far from settled on his final starting lineup, and will probaby play most of the practice sessions before he cuts his squad to the twelve men to be carried for the league season. Two of the 23 boys still listed on the squad have not been practicing prac-ticing because of Injuries. Paul Southwick, a regular last year, has been unable to report because be-cause of a knee injury suffered in football, an injury that may keep him out for the season. Ralph Gardner, a squad member of last year, suttered a severe ankle sprain in the first practice session this year and has not yet been able to get back onto the iloor. Among the seniors still on the squad are Nick Lunt and Dale Perkins of last year's squad; Scott Stanworth, who played at Hurricane last year; Robert Pace, Bob Dewey, Dick Clark, LaVar Wade, Clyde Hunt. Gordon Bauer, Elvin Gifford, Kendall Jones and Douglass Knell. Juniors on the squad are Gordon Gor-don Sargent and Gary Middleton, regular . squad members last year; Craig Jones, Robert Frame, Sheldon Alger, Forrest Terry. T. J. Jones, Jack Sargent and LaMar Clark. About thirty sophomores are working out regularly and it is possible that a team will be developed de-veloped to enter into a sophomore sopho-more league in the district. |
