Show Former Resident Dies fit Delta Farm; Funeral. Rites Held Funeral services were hell on Friday, at 11 a. m. in the Sutherland Suth-erland Ward chapel In Millard County for Ronald Mortensen, 54. well known farmer of the Delta Area and native and former resident res-ident of Parowan. Mr. Mortensen was found dead Tuesday at 7:30 p. m. on his farm north of Delta. He had been dead for several hours and the verdict, following an inquest conducted by Millard County officers, of-ficers, was that death was caused by a self-inflicted bullet wound. Mortensen was born In Parowan Paro-wan April 6, 1908, a son of Joseph Jo-seph R, and Lenora Mickelson Mortensen, and spent his early years here being a graduate of the Parowan High School. He was a member of the LDS Church. He went to Delta In 1932 when his father and his sons took over the management of what was known as the "Big Delta Ranch" and assumed the management of it several years ago, engaed in farming and livestock raising. He had served as president of the Abraham Irrigation Co. for1 19 years. He married Fern Whicker of Delta July 20, 1936 at Ely, Nev. Survivors include his widow, two sons and two daughters, Ronald W., who was at Boys' State In Logan at the time of his father's death; Cheryl Diane, Paul and Jill, all of Delta. Also surviving are three brothers bro-thers and four sisters. Bill, Milo and Elwood Mortensen, Delta; Mrs. Fred (Eliza) Hedqulst, Provo; Pro-vo; Mrs. Ward (Earbarat Spend-love, Spend-love, Tooele; Mrs. Dee (Florence Smith, Concord, Calif, and Mrs. John (Josephine McPhee, San Lorenzo, Calif. Following services at Sutherland, Suther-land, burial took place in the Delta City cemetery. Attending the funeral services from Parowan Paro-wan were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mickelson, Mrs. Beatrice Mickelson Mickel-son and Mrs. Ruby Orton. |
