Show Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Sarah Fretwell Funeral rites for Mrs. Sarah Ann Dutton Fretwell, 92, thought to be Cedar City's oldest woman resident, were held Tuesday at the Cedar City First-Fifth ward chapel, Bishop James Heywood presiding. Mrs. Fretwell, a native of England, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Kate Ashdown, Cedar City, of ailments incident to age. Samuel F. Leigh was the principal prin-cipal speaker at the services. Parson U. Webster gave the invocation, in-vocation, while Harry Lunt delivered de-livered the benediction. A mixed quartet comprised of Mamie Eck, Lois McConnell, Ray Cosslett and Miles Walker sang ''Sometime We'll Understand" and "The Flower Land." Mr. Walker sang a solo, "I'm a Pilgrim." Beth Leigh served as accompanist. , Born in Chesterton, England, Aug. 31, 1859, a daughter of John and Margery Coopen Dutton, Mrs. Fretwell came to the United Unit-ed States with her family as a convert to the L D S church in 1865. The family lived in Pennsylvania Penn-sylvania for several years, coming com-ing to Utah and Cedar City in 1875. She was married to Orson Pratt Fretwell in the St. George LDS temple, on Jan. 3, 1878. Mr. Fretwell Fret-well died in 1927. ' Though she had been blind for the past seven years, she had retained re-tained a keen interest In community commu-nity affairs and friends. She was active in her ward Relief Society and was a member at the time of her death. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ashdown; two sons, Arthur and Herbert Fretwell, Cedar City; 11 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren.
