Show Former Cedarite Dies Tuesday at Seattle, Washington Stewart Udell, 48, former Cedar Ce-dar City resident, and well known to many Cedar City people, peo-ple, died Tuesday in Seattle, according ac-cording to word received by relatives rel-atives in Utah. Mr. Udell, who was an employee of the United States Forest Service was stationed sta-tioned at Cedar City, when he left to enter military service in 1940. Mr. Udell died Tuesday while commuting to work aboard a ferry from Seattle to Bremerton. Born July 4, 1900 at Nephi, he was a son of George A. and Maude Stewart Udell. He was a graduate of the University of Utah School of Mines. He was employed by the U. S. Forest Service and was director of the Majitl Forest prior to his entrance en-trance into the service. He was married 10 Mablc Smith in 1927, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Entering the Army In 1940, he served with the coast artillery in the rank of Major. After the Pearl Harbor attack, he was transferred to the engineer corps and aided In raising ship sunk during the initial Japanese bombing of World War II. Surviving are his widow, of Seattle; a son and three daughters, daugh-ters, Carol, Joyce, Ruth and David Dav-id Udell, Seattle l his father, Salt Lake City; two brothers, Arland Udell, Salt Lake City, and Dean Udell, Lehi, and a sister, Mrs. Georglda Manning, Lehl. |
