Show J 0GDEN, UTAH. (Special Correspondence,) The autumn festival given by the ladies of St. Joseph's closed with a grand euchre party and has proved to be all that was expected. At the card 1 party 100 fine prizes were given away to lucky players. The first prize, a handsome silver tea set, donated by J. S. Lewis & Co., was won by Mr. Ferris. The second prize, a beautiful writing desk, given by the Ogden Furniture Fur-niture company, was gladly handed to Miss Ella O'Brien, a newcomer to Ogden. Og-den. Miss Anna Powell also won the oak table from Boyle's furniture store; Mrs. Don Malone carried off the pretty little mission clock. The other prizes, too numerous to mention, were also taken ta-ken by Ogden people. The money cleared at the whole affair is not yet determined. Mrs Sheeny. Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Kane, all of Pocatello, sent offerings to Miss Kate Fitzgerald to donate to the cause. The next step now will be to complete the basement. Mrs. J. Lt. Herrick displayed a very-interesting very-interesting china exhibition at her home on Washington avenue. Many beautiful beauti-ful and artistic pieces of work were shown. Mrs. Herrick says that never Vine VifT Inhnr heen so siicccssf ill. She teaches many pupils, at present among them several painting teachers from Salt Lake. She is being very ably assisted as-sisted by Miss Sim Hendershot, who has lately returned from a course of study in Chicago. T. E. Fitzgerald, who was in Ogden for the euchre party Wednesday, has returned to Idaho. Mrs. Fitzgerald will remain awhile longer and continue her treatment at the Hot Spring?. The Ogden Literary club met at the home of Mrs. Joe Scowcroft last week. One of. the numbers of the program was the recital of Tennyson's "Enoch Ar-den" Ar-den" to an accompaniment . of music by Mrs. Lillian-Famsworth. The Democrats did not go entirely under at the recent election. The results re-sults brought forth a Democratic mayor may-or any several other officers. Mrs. A. R. Heywood was the guest last week of her friend, Miss Phillips at Salt Lake. She went over to be present pres-ent at the annual alumnae banquet at St. Mary's academy. Mrs. Ferris, proprietress of the Vir ginia hotel, has maae nev. vainer Cushnahan the present of a beautiful pair of burnished gold candalabra for the main altar. PJach pair holds nineteen nine-teen candles and will be a very useful ornament. Mr. and Mrs. Will Moran are the delighted parents of a baby girl, which arrived last week. Miss Florence Downey of Kemmerer, formerly of Sacred Heart academy, has been very ill with a siege of typhoid fever. Mrs. Jack Spargo chaperoned aparty of young peopie Saturday night to the play "Strongheart." They were Misses Edith Klopenstein, Ella O'Brien, Mabel Shepherd, Loretta Whalen and Pamela Spargo. .
