Show Weeping as a Fine Art. Probably says Black and White (London) the new preference for the bright side of life is due in women at least to the undeniable truth that they no longer cry as easily as they used to do. At one time a good weep was a recognized feminine luxury which, like a summer shower, had a marvelous effect in clearing away clouds. Now all but a few members of the sex seem to have lost the art of crying becomingly and readily, and when they begin it is painful and unsightly un-sightly business. To be able to weep without shedding tears is a real gift. It is rare that masculine spectators can resist the soft suspicion of moisture mois-ture in. beautiful eyes; but they object to the deluge which reddens the nose and puckers up the face. The woman who cries because she can't help It usually usu-ally succeeds in drawing a man away; but sorrow under restraint, with a possible pos-sible smile hidden behind the curtain of tears, is an irresistible invitationto htm to stay and. comfort. |
