Secretary Kel-; Kel-; ly of the Miners' Union has had such ( an increase in business that he has been compelled to have an assistant. The union, typical of Victor, is growing grow-ing with rapid strides. The ball given by the ladies of St. Victor's Catholic Church at Kennedy's hall on the evening of the 21st was. despite de-spite the awful condition of the streets, very well attended, in fact, too much so for the dancers' comfort. Quite a little sum. was realized for the church treasury. Although the dust M.as enough to choke one, a most enjoyable en-joyable evening was had by all and the St. Victor ladies scored a decided success. Miss Katie Doran is to be married early in July to a very estimable young man of Victor. Miss Katie Doran visited Miss Mamie Preston of Cripple Creek the past few days. -is The delegates of the Western Federation Feder-ation of Miners and the Western Labor Union to the number of 125 reached Victor by special train over the F. & C. C. railroad Thursday morning'and spent two days in this camp. After breakfast the party was taken by a train on the Golden Circle road to Goldfield, Independence and Altman, visiting the great mines en route. At 2:30 in the afternoon the visitors were treated to a banquet and at 7:30 a mass-meeting was addressed by the leading speakers of organized labor. The Retail Clerks' Union ably assisted. 5 |
