Maida Hegney then read the First Communicant's Act of Consoonuon. followed by a hymn with Clara I'afik as soloit. Margaret Collins next read the Sec ond Act of Consecration and the children chil-dren started around the church v !tli Kev. Father Kicly leading thi procession. pro-cession. On reaching the altar, Helen Kearns. the lovely little crowner. onlv 4 c-iirs old, mounted the nowcr-dra;J ladder and placed an exquisite crow; of lowers low-ers on the Blessed Mother's heal. She was followed' by Thomas Kcarr.s. jr.. w ho placed a shower bo'i'im t of snowballs at the foot of the statue. Then all the children left their wreaths on the altar, and during the procession tiny Marguerite Lovke" s;-;:ig the pretty May hymn, "Hail, I.'.ary, while ail the children sang the chorus excellently. The crowner was attended by her brothers. Edmund and Thomas Ke'i.-ns. The maids of honor were Maida Hegney,. Heg-ney,. Margaret Connelley. Esther Cronin, Cro-nin, Florence Collins, Margaret Cos-grove. Cos-grove. Florence Halloran and Cassandra Cassan-dra Wood. The banner bearers wer Florence- Sullivan. Nora Craw" iv.l, Mary Marion, Louise HoelVr and Ncra Culem:'ii. After the coronation Kev. ''ath"r Kiely delivered an eloquent sermon on the Blessed Virgin. He explained that the coronation ceremony was not a doctrine of th-.- church, but was sanctioned sanc-tioned by the church. The children, who were emblematic- of purity and innocence, always took part. The church sanctioned devotion to thv Blesspd Virgin and the saints, an they nrC the highest of the sanctified on"?, but "in crowning the Blessed Virgin they were not giving to her. the honors that belonged to 'God. The sermon was x very interesting one. particularly tor the non-Ca t holies, many being present. After the isermon. benediction of the blessed sacrament was given by Kt. Kev. Bishop Seanlan.
