Show SYMPATHY FOB. FILIPINOS. Denver, Colo., May 23. At the closing session today of the Western .Federation .Federa-tion of Miners, the following resolution upon the Philippine question was adopted: "We denounce the spirit of imperialism imperial-ism and commercialism which induced our representative in the Paris convention conven-tion to acquire the Spanish right in the Philippine islands for a money consideration. con-sideration. We deplore the futile efforts ef-forts put forth by this government to make good the questionable title at that time acquired. "The sacrifice of human life and treasure involved in that effort we regard re-gard as a distinct loss to humanity and worthy the denunciation of all j civilized people. "The cause of human liberty is the most exalted sentiment in the mind of man, and as an organization actuated by this sentiment, we denounce as unjust un-just and criminal the war now being prosecuted for the subjugation of these islands. The avarice and commercial greed which has been inflicted upon our people through the unfortunate war in the Philippines we believe to be the dominant influence in our modern civilization and responsible for the unequal un-equal contests now being waged in foreign for-eign lands. This federation of work-ingmen work-ingmen also extends its heartfelt sympathy sym-pathy to all peoples struggling for the inalienable rights of self-government. The federation re elected the old officers of-ficers and decided to keep the headquarters head-quarters of the organization at Butte, Mont. . The officers, who were unanimously re-electtd are |
