Show " OBITUARY. ! i Slattery. Father M. Slattery. who was a native of Tallow county, Watcrford. Ireland, and vicar general of the diocese of Gouldbourn, died recently. He was pastor of Wagga Wagga, Australia, for many years. In 1S83 Father Slattery, accompanied by the present bishop of Gouldbourn, Rt. Rev. John Gallagher, visited Salt Lake and was the guest of Bishop Scanlan, who then resided in the rear of St. Mary's church. Though innured to hardship in the Australian bush, nowhere did the visitors see primitive apostolic missionary life so faithfully carried out as in Salt Lake. Between our bishop and the two Australian Aus-tralian missionaries a warm friendship has existed since their visit to this city. R. I. I. , Frey. Lottie B. Frey, of Genoa. Nevada, who died at Reno on the 3rd instant, was highly esteemed and universally respected by all who knew the young lady. Her parents have the sympathy of all the inhabitants of Genoa, where the deceased was a. general favorite. Her brother, William D. Frey. and wife, of Clear Creek, Utah, came to Salt Lake on Saturday, intending to be present at the funeral, which took nisi re nn Knrwl.iv hut ns thev could not reach here in time they discontinued their journey and returned home on Monday. Before returning both attended at-tended a Requiem Mass and received Holy Communion. |
