Show DEATH OF BISHOP MICHAUD. Reached New York From Trip Abroad Last Week. j (New York Star.) Right Rev. John S. Michaud, bishop of the Roman Catholic diocese of Burlington. Bur-lington. Vt., died Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 6:20 o'clock in the morning at St. Vincent's Vin-cent's hospital. Bishop Michaud reached America Monday night on the Hambug-Amer-ican lin steamship Amerika. He was critically ill at the time, and it was found necessary to call an ambulance in order to remove him to the hospital. Bishop Michaud was a sufferer from Blight's disease. Two months ago, accompanied ac-companied by his physician, Dr. A. Shea, he went abroad in the hope that the cures at Lourdes might benefit htm. Bishop Michaud was among the most active workers of the church. He was born in Burlington in November, 1843. After studying in Montreal college he was graduated from Holy Cross, Wor- j cester, Mass., in 1S79. He then entered St. Joseph's Theological seminary at j Troy. N. Bishop Midland's health failed several sev-eral months ago. and after physicians in Vermont had given up all hopes or saving his life he decided to try the cures of Lourdes. While abroad he suffered a relapse, and. desiring to Tio in his native countrq. he refused all! medical advice to remain, and insisted on returning to America. His physician, physi-cian, Dr. Shea, protested against the trip. but., feeling that he had only a short time to live, Bishop Michaud Wis firm.
