Show NEW CHARGES FOR NEELY. He is Now Accused of Embezzling 8400,000. New Tork, May 23. Papers are today en route from Washington to New York which will result in the preferring of other charges against Charles F. W. Neely, now confined in the Ludlow street jail. It is ascertained that these papers were sent from Cuba to the department de-partment at Washington, and charge the alleged defaulting postal employee with the embezzlement of a sum approximating ap-proximating S400.000. This alleged embezzlement em-bezzlement consists in the conversion into cash of the $400,000 worth. of "surcharged" "sur-charged" Cuban stamps which were ordered or-dered destroyed, and which were certified certi-fied as having been destroyed by the committee eppointed for that purpose, of which Neely was the head. |
